"i will always be grateful to my samaritan family"
A Letter from a Former Samaritan Community Member
Bill Johnston, counselor at Samaritan Community, meets with many members to help them reach their goals.
Dear Samaritan Community,
Last year, I was between a rock and a very hard place scrambling to pay rent, utilities, and buy groceries. I called everywhere for help, but was repeatedly told they were out of funds, or I lived in the wrong neighborhood. I moved to an even cheaper apartment while continuing my job search and my mother helped some when she was able, but I was desperate and losing hope.
One day, I chatted with a kind neighbor who told me about Samaritan Community. When I came for the first time, I met Bill Johnston. He stood with the door opened wide, smiling like he’d seen an old friend return home. at simple act of kindness meant the world to me!
Your pantry staff and the other Samaritan Community members were all so genuinely warm and loving. You gave me a bag of good food, and helped me with my rent payment and bus fare to job interviews, as well as assisting with my job search. And most of all, you gave me the love, respect and hope I needed to succeed!
With your help, I landed a wonderful new job helping others to achieve their entrepreneurial goals. I will always be grateful to my Samaritan Family!
Love, L.T.
